Cold February?

We have had cold moments, but it feels so much like Spring! We took a trip down to San Antonio today, our monthy trip. We were able to attend the temple and to take the children to the zoo afterwards. Since we go down so often we have a pass to the zoo and have loved every minute. I think we are really learning the different kinds of animals. Today we were looking at the lions and suddenly one started roaring, the children thought it was amazing and kept talking about it for the rest of the day. What fun it is to spend time together!

Together Time

We received a call from Rebecca's nursery teacher Sunday morning and she wanted a digital picture of Clark and Rebecca together for a lesson on Fathers. We searched and found that Clark takes most of the pictures so we hurried and took this sweet picture. Rebecca has always had a special relationship with Clark. The first of the morning she will say, "Where's daddy." (Clark is usually at school already) Her happiness is always complete when she is with her father.
As I was falling asleep last night I was thinking of the great blessing it is to have such wonderful children. David is always doing little sweet things for each of us. Rebecca has such a concern for other's feelings and will be there hugging, kissing, and loving someone who is sad.

I changed things around in the children's rooms and made room for Rebecca to sleep in David's room since her room will eventually be our new baby's room. When I was putting the children to bed last night, David really wanted to have Rebecca in his room so he wouldn't be all alone, but Rebecca didn't feel quite ready to give up the crib. David started crying feeling lonely already, and Rebecca saw his tears. I told her that David really wanted her to sleep in his room, and she said, "okay." They slept too! What sweet children, with such tender feeling. Children really are a gift from our Heavenly Father. What great treasures they are.

School Cancelled

Preschool was cancelled this week due to the flu, so we decided to have some fun and go to the Texas Jumping Beans. David and Rebecca had lots of fun. I was surprised that Rebecca was able to do almost everything by herself, climbing the big latters and sliding down. It was nice for us to get out since we haven't been playing outside too much this week.

Our Prophet Dear

Our wonderful prophet of more than ten years has passed on. President Gordon B. Hinckley has now been reunited with his wonderful wife in the Spirit world. As I pondered this, I feel sad for us who will miss his teachings and hearing his voice; although, I also feel joy at a wonderful man who lived his life as a great example. I imagine when he entered where we go after we die, he met the Savior who probably said, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the rest of the Lord." What joy at living a life of service to God. I know that President Hinckley and all the prophets before him are true prophets of God and they speak and do his will. I know that those who will be called to replace the openings will also be called of God. This is Jesus Christ's church and it will continue to go forward. I have great joy and hope in that.

Inspection

I have to share something funny. Today someone came to do an annual check on our house from the management company. Well, David and Rebecca followed the kind man around everywhere. Rebecca kept calling him "daddy". She would say, "Daddy, look at this", or "Where'd daddy go?" I think he thought it was funny. She hasn't done that to anyone else before, perhaps he looked similar to Clark.

David followed the man around everywhere, and entertained him while he did his job. He told him all about the "baby in mommy's tummy" and how we got to see it, then he told him all about how I was cleaning certain things before the man arrived. David even changed his shirt so the man could see his "Bee School" shirt he has. I love how some people bring these funny things out in my children. They aren't normally friend to strangers (well, David might smile, but Rebecca certainly isn't), some people just look nice I guess. It was a funny experience.

The things I had been cleaning were Rebecca's booster chair for the kitchen... I finally cleaned it out and it was drying in the bath tub. I was pretty excited because I also cleaned our baby tub finally, it takes me a while to get up motivation on some things! So now I will go and rest....

A New Baby

We went to the doctor yesterday for our first visit. They were unable to hear a heartbeat and so they sent me into the ultrasound room. We were able to see our little one and see its tiny heart beating. Seeing the ultrasound with a real baby on it filled me with excitement and joy. Suddenly it all became real. The best part was that David, Rebecca, and Clark were able to be there too. They are happy to have a little baby in the family.
